"R" Family Session

Photobucket

I'm home from another fun session! I always find 1-3 year olds a bit of a challenge, so I knew it would be before meeting with the family. I told Mom to bring something that her daughter loved to our shoot, so she brought Elmo shoes and a stuffed puppy. I thought I could sneak shots in between having her share puppy with me, but the moment puppy left her hands, she was too interested in making sure puppy came back to her in a jiffy! haha. So, we decided puppy would just be part of the family, too. As you can see in my collage above, we managed to get some shots without puppy. :)

Near and Dear to My Heart: OpLove Session

Photobucket

I had my first Oplove Session this past week. Back when I first embarked on my photography journey, I was lucky enough to do a homecoming session for a friend of mine, and of course I did it all for free. I don't think I have any of those pictures on my blog yet, but they are in my slideshow on my official website. Oplove was honestly one of the perks to me being a photographer. To have the opportunity to welcome a service member home and see him reunite with his family again is absolutely beautiful. It's really such an emotional experience, for me anyway. I am honored that this couple allowed me and trusted me to document such an important time in their life. And, I'm starting to tear up. Haha.

"G" Family Session

Photobucket

Woohoo! I officially have a new favorite picture! I knew this was the money shot from the moment I snapped it. I was at her level, as she was doing her thing, just chatting with her and I got this fabulous pose from her! I looked at her Mom and said, "I just got a good one!" haha. Yep, came home and I was right!

This family, I have to be honest, has overwhelmed me since the Mom first asked me to do a session with her family. When we got there, they definitely lived up to their reputation in my mind. But, oh, such sweet sweet kids! Very interactive, but very ACTIVE..haha. This was definitely a lifestyle shoot vs a posed session. Generally, I do a good mix of both at my sessions, but the lifestyle style was definitely in overdrive in this one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, tho. As you can tell, great shots were made! :)

December

So, it's time to get honest with myself. My portfolio building is over! I am completely content with how it looks. I have been for a little while, but I've been stretching out my Portfolio Special in order to stay busier. However, with that being said, I need to start taking myself more seriously. On top of that, my time here in VA is rapidly coming to an end and my husband is soon to be deploying. Standing back and looking at where I stand right now, I don't need to be busy. And, again, I feel content with all the work that I have done up to this point for my portfolio.

My original session fee is $100. For the month of December, I'm charging $50. The fee is required upon booking, and is non refundable.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Family Session at Regent University

Photobucket

Sunday morning I met with another great family at Regent University, another new location for me. I absolutely LOVE this location! Everything about it screams F.A.L.L.! I love the leaves, colors, scenery, everything!

This family was pretty awesome. The kids were like pro's! Usually, I am trying to get kids to look at the camera, smile, etc, and they already knew what to do..which for their ages was fabulous!

Special thanks to the Mom for suggesting this location, I plan on doing more sessions at this location!

Family Shoot at Ft. Monroe

Photobucket

This past weekend brought on new places for me! I did a session at Ft. Monroe for this particular family. The Mom requested brick backgrounds for her family shoot, and I stumbled across Ft. Monroe. How in the heck have I lived in VA for a couple years and not know about this location? This is a great spot for pictures! I know I haven't fully explored this post, so I'm sure there is a lot more to it than I am aware of. Hopefully, I will get to do more sessions here in the future!

This is a favorite family of mine, I had the opportunity to do a 2 year old session for the youngest member a couple months back. Each child during the family session had their own personality. The oldest boy would smile for every pic, the oldest girl kind of just went along with it but threw in some sillyness here and there, the youngest boy did not want to have pictures done(and made it clear in the pics, haha), and the baby girl would smile when she had to. I couldn't help but crack up when I was reviewing the pictures, the youngest boy and his faces just made my day. I really like how they all display their personalities in the pictures. One day, when the parents look back on the images, I just know they will crack a smile. :)

Family Beach Session Part 2

Photobucket

I met with the family, from the previous post, again on Saturday morning for part 2 of our session. As mentioned before, the weather wasn't the greatest during our first meet, so we decided to reschedule.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday! The sun was a little harsh, but I did my best to work around my personal issues with the sun. Beach photography is a challenge for me on bright beautiful sunny days, because I don't like shadows and over exposed spots in my images. Being on the beach on a bright and sunny day, you have no clouds or trees to diffuse the sun..so it can be a challenge to get the image I'm working for.

I had a great time again with this family, and thanks to them for bringing me out to Fort Story for the first time to do a shoot! :)

Back in Session!

Photobucket

I was gone the whole month of October visiting family. I had my first back in town session yesterday, and it was so nice to be back behind the camera doing family sessions again!

I thought yesterday was going to be a perfect day to take pictures, until I got to my location. It seemed the sun was shining all the way to Ft. Story, but was met with a cloudy overhang when I got there. It was colder, cloudier, windier, and damp.

Shortly after I arrived, the family arrived. We decided to give it a go. We got on the beach, snapped some shots, and then decided to reschedule it again on a less windier, warmer, sunnier day! (As warm as we can get at least! This time of the year is hard!)

I was fortunate to get some good pictures. I featured 10 images from the session, which is about right considering I had 30 minutes of time working with them.

Best of all, I got to shoot some Christmas-y photos!

They were a pleasure to work with!

November Special

Another Evening Session at the Beach!

Photobucket

Last night, I had another great session at the beach! I worked till the sun went down with these two adorable kids. This wasn't my first time working with them, so I came more prepared. In my defense, the first time I worked with them, it was also my first photography session EVER. These 2 kiddo's seemed more energetic and more social this time. It must have been the beach atmosphere! While I was preparing for my first beach session, I came across an article that stated that sessions at the beach always seem to make people more laid back, and relaxed. These kids were definitely more relaxed than the first time I tried to take their pictures. I did come bearing toys, tho. I brought bubbles, which unfortunately were useless(haha), a stick horse, a spikey rubber ball, a big ball, a sailor hat, and a rocking horse. I was determined to convince these kiddo's we were going to have fun while taking pictures. On top of that, their Mommy brought some fun costumes since Halloween is right around the corner!

I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of beach sessions, and one thing I need to remember is not to roll around in the sand with my camera bag attached to me! When I got home, I put my husband's OCD to good use. I put him in charge of getting rid of the sand in my bag and on my equipment...haha. He didn't even complain! Such a great husband! =)

First Beach Session

Photobucket

I did my very first beach session last night, and I have to say it was a success! I was thrilled when I first saw the family as they showed up in white tops and blue jeans, which is a great look for beach portraits.

On another note, I really need to get a lens critter! haha. I really would like to see if that would help draw some attention to my camera. I, fortunately, got some great shots of all of them looking at the camera regardless. It almost seemed impossible, but it was done!

I'm looking forward to doing more beach portraits in the future!

Family/Maternity Session

Photobucket

Friday night, I had the opportunity to capture a family of 4, including baby girl in Momma's belly. It was my first maternity session, and I was thrilled to do it! Big brother was pretty hard to capture, but I got a few shots of him. He is definitely a BOY, tho! Very energetic and curious. haha. I definitely need to invest in something to get the attention of children who aren't interested in my taking their picture. =)

2 Year Birthday Session

Photobucket

Yesterday, I did a 2 year birthday session! I was really looking forward to this session, and it turned out great. We went out to the Botanical Gardens, where she gave me about an hour of shots and then she was knocked out tired on the walk back to the car. =)

Happy 2nd Birthday!!

Out on the Farm

Photobucket

Had a great session today! I went out to Bergey's Breadbasket and did a session for a great looking family! I have a lot of favorites, but I'd say my ultimate favorite is the picture featured here in this post. I just love it!

I am so glad that I got to do this session today, it was nice to go out to a country like atmosphere. The people at Bergey's were very friendly, and I plan on going back when I have time to enjoy some of their food. My mouth was watering just looking at the menu!

Now if the weather had been a bit cooler......

Love Them All!

Photobucket

Today I had the opportunity to capture a beautiful baby girl! She did so well on having her picture taken, and I love the pictures that I got. It was hard to pick just one picture for this blog.

I was supposed to do her session on Thursday, but had to reschedule for today. I got to use my new stuff, and I am very happy with the results. Beautiful! =)

Knitting!

I have come across so many knitted things that I would absolutely LOVE to have for my photography. So I thought that maybe I would give knitting a try and I could make some of my own things. Saturday morning I went on a mission to good old Wally World to get some yarn and some knitting needles.

At first, I'll admit that I wanted to claim defeat and get on with my life. haha. I was learning via YouTube, though, so I reconsidered and found a different video. I thought maybe the video wasn't telling me enough because I felt like I was doing as they say, but I wasn't getting the results. I found another video, and just like that I figured out what I was doing wrong. From that moment on, I was golden. I think I went a little too big for my first blanket tho. I think I will be working on it for the next week or so.

I'm excited about it, and I hope I can learn something other than a blanket! haha. I just don't know where I will find the time yet. I have a lot of things going on right now. But, at least I'm busy and I need that right now. :)

New Studio Stuff

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I got some new stuff today for my session this afternoon, and was really excited to use it but my session was canceled. Since I was already set up and ready, I thought I would snap some pictures of my daughter. She really liked the tutu I had bought, so we tried it out. I think the pictures turned out well, but I can't wait to use my new stuff on some new kiddo's! =)

Baby Session: 1 Month Old

Photobucket

Today, I had the opportunity to do a photo session of a 1 month old. I spent the last several days thinking about how to do this session. The mental part of photography is somewhat exhausting for me as a beginner, haha. I am a perfectionist at whatever it is I have a passion for, and I truly try to strive for the best. I am pretty hard on myself at the end of the day, tho. I go through my work again and again and again, and analyze what I need to do differently next time. There is always room for improvement, esp when you are a beginner.

When I did my session today, minutes beforehand I started to realize that I didn't like the way my studio setup was. Then my precious little model showed up at my door. I realized after some shots that I needed to change the position of my setup. Thankfully, I realized that, and got some pretty good shots after!

Even though little "P" wasn't in much of a mood to get photos done today, she gave me a few good minutes to get some good shots. :)

It was a good time!

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I wanted to set up a blog to be able to elaborate on my future sessions. I am embarking on a journey that I want to share with all of you. Last fall, I started going to school for graphic design. Years ago, I found an interest in designing. I came up with a tag site on Myspace named "Love Inspired Tags". I would use my free time to create graphics for other people to use on their pages. I thoroughly enjoyed doing that, and I had a pretty large following. Eventually, life took me in a different direction and I got busy with other things and I stopped designing.

Last year, after looking through courses that are required for Graphic Design, I realized that I was still interested in it. About halfway through, while taking Photo Image Editing 1, I realized that I wanted to do Photography. So I just recently took up a Photography program, along with my Graphic Designs program.

I have had the pleasure of doing some wonderful sessions up to this point, and I have plenty lined up for the month of September. I can't wait to share them with all of you!
