"R" Family Session

Photobucket

I'm home from another fun session! I always find 1-3 year olds a bit of a challenge, so I knew it would be before meeting with the family. I told Mom to bring something that her daughter loved to our shoot, so she brought Elmo shoes and a stuffed puppy. I thought I could sneak shots in between having her share puppy with me, but the moment puppy left her hands, she was too interested in making sure puppy came back to her in a jiffy! haha. So, we decided puppy would just be part of the family, too. As you can see in my collage above, we managed to get some shots without puppy. :)

Near and Dear to My Heart: OpLove Session

Photobucket

I had my first Oplove Session this past week. Back when I first embarked on my photography journey, I was lucky enough to do a homecoming session for a friend of mine, and of course I did it all for free. I don't think I have any of those pictures on my blog yet, but they are in my slideshow on my official website. Oplove was honestly one of the perks to me being a photographer. To have the opportunity to welcome a service member home and see him reunite with his family again is absolutely beautiful. It's really such an emotional experience, for me anyway. I am honored that this couple allowed me and trusted me to document such an important time in their life. And, I'm starting to tear up. Haha.

"G" Family Session

Photobucket

Woohoo! I officially have a new favorite picture! I knew this was the money shot from the moment I snapped it. I was at her level, as she was doing her thing, just chatting with her and I got this fabulous pose from her! I looked at her Mom and said, "I just got a good one!" haha. Yep, came home and I was right!

This family, I have to be honest, has overwhelmed me since the Mom first asked me to do a session with her family. When we got there, they definitely lived up to their reputation in my mind. But, oh, such sweet sweet kids! Very interactive, but very ACTIVE..haha. This was definitely a lifestyle shoot vs a posed session. Generally, I do a good mix of both at my sessions, but the lifestyle style was definitely in overdrive in this one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, tho. As you can tell, great shots were made! :)

December

So, it's time to get honest with myself. My portfolio building is over! I am completely content with how it looks. I have been for a little while, but I've been stretching out my Portfolio Special in order to stay busier. However, with that being said, I need to start taking myself more seriously. On top of that, my time here in VA is rapidly coming to an end and my husband is soon to be deploying. Standing back and looking at where I stand right now, I don't need to be busy. And, again, I feel content with all the work that I have done up to this point for my portfolio.

My original session fee is $100. For the month of December, I'm charging $50. The fee is required upon booking, and is non refundable.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Family Session at Regent University

Photobucket

Sunday morning I met with another great family at Regent University, another new location for me. I absolutely LOVE this location! Everything about it screams F.A.L.L.! I love the leaves, colors, scenery, everything!

This family was pretty awesome. The kids were like pro's! Usually, I am trying to get kids to look at the camera, smile, etc, and they already knew what to do..which for their ages was fabulous!

Special thanks to the Mom for suggesting this location, I plan on doing more sessions at this location!

Family Shoot at Ft. Monroe

Photobucket

This past weekend brought on new places for me! I did a session at Ft. Monroe for this particular family. The Mom requested brick backgrounds for her family shoot, and I stumbled across Ft. Monroe. How in the heck have I lived in VA for a couple years and not know about this location? This is a great spot for pictures! I know I haven't fully explored this post, so I'm sure there is a lot more to it than I am aware of. Hopefully, I will get to do more sessions here in the future!

This is a favorite family of mine, I had the opportunity to do a 2 year old session for the youngest member a couple months back. Each child during the family session had their own personality. The oldest boy would smile for every pic, the oldest girl kind of just went along with it but threw in some sillyness here and there, the youngest boy did not want to have pictures done(and made it clear in the pics, haha), and the baby girl would smile when she had to. I couldn't help but crack up when I was reviewing the pictures, the youngest boy and his faces just made my day. I really like how they all display their personalities in the pictures. One day, when the parents look back on the images, I just know they will crack a smile. :)

Family Beach Session Part 2

Photobucket

I met with the family, from the previous post, again on Saturday morning for part 2 of our session. As mentioned before, the weather wasn't the greatest during our first meet, so we decided to reschedule.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday! The sun was a little harsh, but I did my best to work around my personal issues with the sun. Beach photography is a challenge for me on bright beautiful sunny days, because I don't like shadows and over exposed spots in my images. Being on the beach on a bright and sunny day, you have no clouds or trees to diffuse the sun..so it can be a challenge to get the image I'm working for.

I had a great time again with this family, and thanks to them for bringing me out to Fort Story for the first time to do a shoot! :)
